Hair Care In Winter at Elements Hair Beauty Lifestyle Salon, Oxted

winter hair care, bury st edmunds hair salonThe cold winter months can play havoc with your hair, leaving it dull, dry and brittle so now is the time to give your locks some tender loving care.

The combination of indoor heating and cold weather can result in dry hair that is prone to split ends and breakage but help is at hand.

The team at Elements have come up with some Top Tips For Healthy Winter Hair.

Have an in-salon deep conditioning treatment once a week

Dry and brittle hair needs an injection of moisture. You can buy some good conditioners over the counter, but if you’re looking for longer-lasting results, have an in-salon treatment.

Keep hair washing to a minimum

Wash your hair two or three times a week rather than every day. If you can bear it, wash your hair in cool water rather than hot water as the heat will dry out your hair.  A final blitz of cold water will give your hair extra shine too!

Avoid over-using heating appliances

Cut down on the use of heating appliances- hairdryers, stylers, tongs, curlers – because these can dry out your hair and cause it to break. If you have to style your hair, smooth some heat protection cream through it first. Split ends love to be treated with a frizz serum or, even better, have your hair trimmed at Elements.

Dry your hair before leaving home

Make sure your hair is completely dry before you go outside into the cold air which tends to dry out your hair.   Give your hair further protection by hiding it beneath a hat or scarf. Silk scarves are a brilliant way of protecting your hair and your hairstyle should remain pretty much intact underneath it!

Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables

We all know now that we should be eating at least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day for a healthy diet… but did you know that the vitamins in your 5-a-day will also help your hair to become shinier and stronger?
